We're REA

Our people are the key to our success. At the heart of everything we do, is a thriving culture centred around high performance and care. We are purpose driven and collaborative, which drives innovation and our ability to make a real impact. As such, we're proud to have been named in Australia's "Top 5" Best Workplaces two years in a row, as well as being recognised as a Best Workplace for Women.

Where the team fits in
The Enterprise Technology (known as ETech) team form a part of our Global Technology group which is headed up by our CTO, Steve Maidment. The Global Technology group is responsible for providing the technology and data platforms underpinning REA's products, services, and operations. The team consists of around 160 people, which are distributed across the Launchpad, Enterprise Technology, Security, Workforce Identity and Data Services teams.

ETech is responsible for making REA employees happy and productive by empowering them with technology. We also play an integral role providing strategic, commercial input and guidance around decisions across all levels of the business, while continually improving the 'behind the scenes' of REA to support our people, as well as providing support to all other functional areas of the business around the globe.

What The Role Is All About
As an Engineering Manager in the Enterprise Technology team, you will lead the team responsible for the design, configuration, integration, and continuous improvement of our internal applications ecosystem. Your team consists of systems engineers and solutions engineers who manage the day-to-day operations of our SaaS application stack and partner with business stakeholders to design and implement modern, scalable, and effective solutions.

You will work closely with other Engineering Managers across our team — including the managers for User Experience and Infrastructure—to deliver unified and seamless staff experiences. With a strong focus on deep application integration, process automation, and the adoption of AI-driven solutions, this role is key to enabling great internal user experiences and effective service delivery across REA.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role that combines strategy, architecture, people management, and delivery. You will lead by example, contributing to solution design, improving application workflows, and championing a product mindset across our internal tooling landscape.

Key Outcomes

  • Deliver seamless and integrated application experiences that supports staff productivity.
  • Anticipating industry trends and working with the business to deliver SaaS solutions that empower our future workforce.
  • Ensure reliability, scalability, and security of business-critical SaaS platforms.
  • Design and implement AI and automation strategies and solutions across our internal application environment.
  • Drive high levels of adoption and satisfaction across the internal toolset.
  • Lead the implementation of the knowledge management strategy and rollout of new knowledge platforms across the organisation.
  • Ensure data retention and governance practices are embedded into platform and process design.
  • Support and grow a high-performing team of systems and solutions engineers.

Who We're Looking For

  • You are a hands-on, strategic technical leader with deep experience in managing cloud-based business applications and the teams that evolve and optimise them to meet changing business needs.
  • You understand what it means to build great user experiences from the inside out—connecting people, data, and systems to create seamless workflows.
  • You thrive on building strong relationships with stakeholders and leading your team to co-design and implement scalable solutions.
  • You bring a product mindset to internal tooling, balancing business impact with reliability and governance.
  • You're energised by what AI and automation can unlock for REA, and you bring curiosity and creativity to how we integrate and evolve our systems.
  • You care about people, performance, and progress. You lead with integrity and empathy, and you are passionate about building environments where all our staff, REA wide can do their best work. Your leadership helps drive the next wave of internal service innovation and ensures our people feel supported, equipped, and confident in the tools they use every day.
