Elecnor has been contracted to build EnergyConnect, a new 700km transmission line extending from Wagga Wagga NSW to the South Australian border.
This backbone infrastructure will connect customers with more renewable energy enabling a further 4950MW of generation capacity, save NSW customers $180 million a year and create 1,500 new construction jobs in regional NSW.
Construction of EnergyConnect is underway in various locations across the project area.
In this role, you will be providing cost control support to designated client groups through timely monitoring, controlling, analysing and reporting of project cost and progress information. This role will require strong focus on trending, forecasting and management of change to contribute towards proactively influencing cost outcomes on the project.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Manage cost and progress for assigned project scope packages, ensuring alignment with agreed scope, pricing schedules, and commercial frameworks.
- Oversee budget allocation, cost control, and monitoring of commitments, actuals, and earned value (EV) performance.
- Lead change control, variance analysis, and key driver identification to support proactive project decision-making.
- Develop accurate forecasts, including Estimate to Complete (ETC) and Estimate at Completion (EAC), using robust forecasting techniques.
- Conduct quantity, manhour, and trending analyses to identify cost and performance trends.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality cost and progress reports, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and meaningful variance explanations.
- Collaborate with package owners and finance to validate forecasts, prepare accruals, and support margin and revenue forecasting.
- Drive quality manhour reporting through analysis of productivity and time capture data.
- Participate in project team meetings to highlight risks, opportunities, and performance insights.
- Support the wider project controls team through collaborative, organised, and detail-focused delivery of reporting commitments.
Qualifications and Experience required for this role include:
University degree majoring in Finance or Accounting preferred.
Alternatively, a university degree in Construction Management or Engineering, or similar
3-4 years experience in cost control essential
Construction site experience would be advantageous
Experience in Oil & Gas, Mining, Infrastructure, Power, Construction preferred
Construction project experience would be ideal but not essential
Advanced competencies in MS Excel Experience in P6
