Herefords Australia Limited (HAL) is a not-for-profit member owned business that maintains the Hereford herd book, undertakes marketing, communications, research and development, delivers genetic evaluation services, and business development activities with the aim of driving unprecedented demand for Hereford genetics and strengthening the breed's renown for productivity and profitability throughout the beef supply chain.

Herefords Australia is looking for a highly motivated team player with a strong customer service mindset to step in as Registry & Member Services Officer in a permanent part time capacity at approximately 30 hours per week.

The Registry & Member Services Officer supports the smooth operations of registry and DNA services and responds to member enquiries as a priority. The Registry & Member Services Officer is expected to place member satisfaction at the forefront of their workday. Activities include animal registrations and transfers, sale catalogues and DNA processing.

The position forms part of a highly motivated team with a focus on delivering value to members, while driving the acceptance, profile, demand and ultimately supply of Hereford and Hereford cross cattle within the commercial sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • First responder for all member enquiries
  • Maintain accurate electronic filing systems
  • Annual inventory processing
  • Membership applications and renewals
  • Process animal registrations (via paper forms, electronic files and Hereford Live) and transfers
  • Create sale catalogues
  • Assist in the implementations of new registry software
  • Process all DNA Test orders
  • Process international import and export of genetic material orders

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  1. Ability to manage databases with a high level accuracy.
  2. Demonstrated experience handling enquiries from customers and/or members.
  3. Excellent computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams and Outlook.
  4. Experience with (and appreciation of) the application of rules and regulations.
  5. Highly organised with attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
  6. Customer focused.
  7. Self-motivated and self-directed with a can-do attitude.
  8. Easy and effective relationship builder.
  9. Follows through on commitments.
  10. Able to confidently manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  11. A willingness to assist in all aspects of the Company and be hands on when required.

Desirable:

  1. Understanding and experience in working in a member-based organisation.
  2. Demonstrated experience handling enquiries including held desk activities.
  3. Agriculture studies, either in secondary school or diploma level.
  4. Knowledge of and affinity for the beef cattle industry.
  5. Current certified Q fever and COVID-19 vaccination, or willingness to obtain.

Travel:

The role may be required to undertake some domestic travel and attend events outside of traditional work hours.
