Herefords Australia Limited (HAL) is a not-for-profit member owned business that maintains the Hereford herd book, undertakes marketing, communications, research and development, delivers genetic evaluation services, and business development activities with the aim of driving unprecedented demand for Hereford genetics and strengthening the breed's renown for productivity and profitability throughout the beef supply chain.

HAL is looking for a highly motivated team player with a strong customer service mindset to step into the Registry & Member Services Manager's position.

The Registry & Member Services Manager is responsible for the smooth operations of registry and DNA services, and ensuring that member enquiries are prioritised. The Manager and supporting team members are expected to exercise a high degree of initiative and place member satisfaction at the forefront of their workday. Activities include animal registrations and transfers, sale catalogues and DNA processing.

The position forms part of a highly motivated management team with a focus on delivering value to members, while driving the acceptance, profile, demand and ultimately supply of Hereford and Hereford cross cattle within the commercial sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead customer support and respond to member enquiries in collaboration with other team members.
  • Effectively manage, mentor and support the Registry & Member Services team.
  • Manage the maintenance of the Herdbook, Performance Register, Commercial Register, and other associated registers in accordance with Company rules and regulations.
  • Manage DNA services and registry software access.
  • Contribute to Research & Development projects and oversee the introduction of registry database enhancements.
  • Oversee international import and export of genetic material.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  1. 3+ years' experience in the Australian beef or a livestock-related industry or a membership­ based organisation.
  2. Demonstrated experience in the application of (and appreciation of) rules and regulations.
  3. Demonstrated experience handling enquiries from customers and/or members.
  4. Excellent computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams and Outlook.
  5. Highly organised with attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
  6. Customer oriented, self-motivated and self-directed with a can-do attitude.
  7. Easy and effective relationship builder.
  8. Follows through on commitments.
  9. Able to confidently manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  10. A willingness to contribute to all aspects of the Company and be hands on when required.

Desirable:

  1. Demonstrated experience in registry-based software (for example ILR2).
  2. Agriculture studies, either in secondary school or diploma level
  3. Knowledge of and affinity for the beef cattle industry.
  4. Current certified Q fever vaccination, or willingness to obtain.

Travel:

The role may be required to undertake some domestic travel and attend events outside of traditional work hours.
