The Role

Armidale Regional Council is seeking a Rates Officer to provide high-level administrative and customer service support to our Finance team. In this role, you'll assist the Revenue Coordinator with critical tasks, manage rates generation and revenue collection, and respond to customer enquiries. You'll also engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely processing of rates, charges, and rebates, supporting Council's commitment to excellence and transparency.

Your responsibilities will include operational and project support, continuous improvement of revenue systems, and contributing to a strong safety and compliance culture. You'll play a key role in enhancing Council's essential revenue services, while upholding our core values of achievement, trust, respect, team spirit, and care.

About You

To thrive in this role, you'll bring at least three years' experience in a finance or revenue-related area, preferably in Local Government rating, and a Certificate III or equivalent qualification. Your strong attention to detail and well-developed organisational skills will support accurate data entry, reporting, and the management of competing priorities.

You're someone who communicates effectively, maintains confidentiality, and builds positive relationships with both internal teams and the community. Your ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, along with your proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, will help you deliver high-quality service. If you have experience with rating systems or have contributed to process improvements, that's a bonus.
