About the Role
An opportunity exists for a Communications Officer within the Communications & Marketing (CM) team to deliver on the Academy's strategic objectives.
As an integral part of the CM team, you'll play a key role in helping shape the development and implementation of transformative communication and marketing strategies that raise public awareness of the capability and status of school leaders and teachers, build brand, and support registrations into Academy professional learning programs. This includes:
- supporting an Academy-wide Communications and Marketing Strategy and providing specialist expertise in creative and impactful communications practices.
- creating engaging and targeted communications plans and products for various audiences.
- publishing and producing audience appropriate content across multiple platforms and channels to drive engagement.
- supporting the Academy's professional learning programs, key initiatives and stakeholders to deliver on goals and build meaningful relationships.
Capabilities
Successful applicants for this role will be able to demonstrate capabilities and experience in the following areas:
- have demonstrated experience contributing and/or leading the delivery of innovative, audience-centric communications strategies, content and plans that meet stakeholder and audience needs. You foster an environment of continuous improvement, reviewing and analysing information to improve effectiveness of communications and marketing initiatives.
- demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills and the ability to liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Academy. You identify issues and create mutually beneficial partnerships and communications strategies that support the objectives of an organisation.
- bring exceptional communication skills, utilising formal and informal channels to engage stakeholders, achieve goals and manage consultation processes.
- have demonstrated experience working on multiple priority projects at once and managing multiple deadlines to enable delivery and deliver tangible business outcomes. You can adapt systems and processes quickly to changing priorities in the organisation or sector.
- bring your leadership skills, holding yourself to account and supporting teams to resolve issues.
- have strong writing and editing skills that can be tailored across different channels and audiences.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working in a dynamic, high performing communications or marketing function in a large or complex organisation.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of communications and marketing best practice and trends, including digital and traditional channels, as well as media engagement.
- Proven ability to effectively engage and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels through effective communication.
- Experience writing for a variety of channels, including editorial and digital mediums such as web, social media, blogs etc
- Effective problem-solving capability to resolve or escalate issues or queries.
- A tertiary qualification in communications, marketing or similar (desirable but not essential).
- Experience in education sector (desirable but not essential).
About the Division
The Academy Services Division provides a range of specialist services to teams across the Academy, and to program participants (potential and current) to ensure high quality professional learning, and an optimal experience for our stakeholders. The Division's four specialist areas include learning design, data evaluation and evidence, communications and marketing, and participant and program support.
The Communications & Marketing (CM) team is responsible for supporting the Academy objective to influence public perceptions of the profession, for managing the Academy brand and its channels, and connecting participants into relevant programs through targeted communications and marketing.
