An exciting and unique opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the Public Administration Group, Strategic Communications, Engagement and Protocol (SCEP) Branch as Senior Adviser, Internal Communications at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

The Public Administration group supports the Victorian Government and the DPC Secretary with expertise in public sector governance, strategic communication, protocol and intergovernmental relations, and advice on legal issues and legislation.

Strategic Communications, Engagement and Protocol (SCEP) branch provides specialist communication, engagement, and protocol support and advice to the departments, premier's private office and portfolio ministers. We centralise and lead campaign delivery, coordinate government-wide efforts, and set best practice standards within the VPS.

The Senior Adviser, Internal Communications is responsible for leading the development and delivery of high-quality, strategic internal communications that inform, engage and connect staff DPC. The role provides trusted advice to senior leaders and executives, oversees key communication channels, and delivers tailored communications that support organisational priorities and foster a positive workplace culture.

Working with a high degree of independence, the Senior Adviser collaborates across the department to ensure communication is clear, inclusive and aligned with DPC's tone of voice and strategic direction. The role also supports internal engagement events, contributes to change communications, and drives continuous improvement in the department's internal communication approach.

To be successful in this role, you will possess sound judgement, excellent communication skills, and strong stakeholder engagement capability, with the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering internal communication strategies and campaigns in a large or complex organisation, with a focus on employee engagement and alignment.
  • Excellent writing and content development skills, with the ability to craft clear, engaging and fit-for-purpose messaging for diverse internal audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage internal communication channels and projects, including intranet content, newsletters, and digital engagement tools.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively, promote inclusion and diversity and identify opportunities to work with other teams to deliver outcomes.
  • Demonstrated project delivery skills and ability to translate strategies into programs or projects that enables achievement of outcomes required.
  • Highly developed influence and persuasion skills and ability to successfully gain agreement to proposals and ideas.
