Financial Controller

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control & Reporting

• Oversee all financial reporting in compliance with accounting standards.
• Lead the preparation and analysis of management accounts, operating statements, and financial forecasts.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial controls.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital, and treasury functions.
• Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors to ensure compliance and timely reporting.
• Ensure compliance with tax obligations and regulatory requirements.

Management Accounting & Operational Finance

• Manage product standard costing, stock reconciliation, fixed assets, and operating budgets.
• Evaluate major capital projects, cost reduction initiatives, and investment decisions.
• Maximize operating profitability with minimal asset investment.
• Oversee the preparation of the annual site budget and support departmental budget reviews.
• Provide timely and accurate management information to support operational decision-making.
• Conduct monthly reviews of departmental expenses to ensure budget adherence.

Systems, Controls & Process Improvement

• Develop and improve procedures and systems of management control across the operation.
• Ensure robust controls over purchases, expenses, and credit card spend.
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting systems and financial reporting processes.
• Support the optimization of financial systems including QAD, QLIK reports, and ReadyWorkForce Payroll.
• Institute regular reviews of obsolete/slow-moving stock and coordinate follow-up with Supply Creditor.

Business Partnering & Strategic Support

• Act as a key liaison between finance and operational teams to ensure alignment and transparency.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Commerce, with CPA or CA certification preferred.
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in a manufacturing environment, including financial control and management accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, company policies, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
