Working with a range of organisations, we support inclusive activities and initiatives that improve outcomes for children and families.

About the role

As part of the Communities for Children (CfC) team, the Project Officer will provide support with administration and contract management, as well as data coordination and reporting. Whether it be meeting with local Elders, attending a Kriol course or upskilling in 4WD Driving, every day will be a little different. As a Project Officer, you will:

About you

Just as this opportunity is unique, we understand that the successful candidate for this role could come from varied backgrounds with different skills and experiences.

  • Local knowledge of Katherine and the Big Rivers Region, or similar remote locations, with some experience building strong relationships with families and community stakeholders
  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent in Social Science, Humanities or equivalent work experience
  • Capability to work autonomously; organising your own day, problem solving and adapting when things don't go to plan
  • Computer literacy and motivation; completing administrative or data entry tasks (using Word, Excel, and Outlook) and achieving goals
  • A current driver's license
  • An Ochre Card and National Police Check (or be willing to obtain these)
  • Applications from people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent are strongly encouraged

Our benefits

Employees are at the centre of The Smith Family's values and operations. By joining our team, you can expect to:
