The Parole Board Queensland was established under the Corrective Services Act 2006 (CSA) on 3 July 2017 as an independent authority and its statutory functions and powers are exercised independently of influence by Queensland Corrective Services (QCS).
The Parole Board Queensland Secretariat is a command established under the Community Corrections and Specialist Operations division, QCS. The Secretariat, which includes the Legal Services Unit, supports the Board through the provision of administrative and legal support in accordance with QCS' statutory obligations under the CSA relating to the operations of the Board.
The Support Officer, Parole Board Secretariat is required to provide administrative support to their supervisor and other staff and maintain administrative processes within the Parole Board Queensland Secretariat (the Secretariat) to ensure that an efficient and effective service is provided to the Board.
The Key Responsibilities Of a Support Officer Are
- Utilise and navigate the Agency electronic recording systems and databases as required;
- Maintain facilities and equipment, including performing audits and maintenance of electronic registers;
- Assist with monitoring and maintaining the Integrated Offender Management System (IOMS) to ensure accurate statistics and data are available;
- Provide data input support for staff as required;
- Ensure the security of Board files and appropriate access to the files by relevant staff and approved external agencies;
- Prepare, maintain, update and manage parole board files;
- Carry out all administrative duties as requested;
- Manage own work-flow by negotiating and confirming work priorities for work completion in consideration of the needs of other officers;
- Answer general telephone enquiries;
- When required liaise with internal and external stakeholders in relation to Secretariat activities;
- Provide support to other staff on administrative issues and assist with the preparation of all associated Secretariat correspondence;
- Comply with and provide input to administrative processes and systems that ensure the security and confidentiality of Board information and offender files; and
- When required undertake procurement and financial processing duties and any other associated budget, human resources and general administrative support for the Secretariat as required.
