The Position
The Technical Assistant, reporting to the Team Leader Local Laws, will be a proactive problem solver with high level tech-enabled insights. They will closely support and assist the Regulatory Services Team to deliver seamless compliance outcomes and build community confidence through efficient and timely processes and actions.
Key Outcomes- Effectively engage and communicate with a wide range of internal and external customers across Council, the, community and, government departments in undertaking the accountabilities of the position
- Provide technical assistance to Environmental Health & Local Law Officers regarding application processing, approvals, permits and inspections.
- Provide technical assistance for environmental health and local law compliance and enforcement activities, including education and awareness including to other staff within Council.
- Under the guidance of senior staff, conduct enforcement actions under environmental health and local law legislation including the Food Act, Environmental Protection Act, Waste Reduction and Recycling Act, Animal Management Act and Council's Local Laws
- Under the guidance of senior staff communicate with all key stakeholders in an effective manner to encourage understanding of enforcement and compliance issues including participation in internal cross-functional working teams to develop a corporate approach to enforcement issues
