About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Mechanical Fitter Trainee at Barron Gorge Power Station in Cairns. The role is a 4-year fixed-term contract that offers a chance to learn a technical trade while contributing to our program of planned maintenance.
You will achieve this through the application of learned skills and by assisting in the delivery of planned preventative maintenance to ensure our operations run smoothly and efficiently.
The successful candidate will complete both on-the-job training and TAFE study blocks to achieve a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical, while developing work skills and experience supported by ongoing mentoring and coaching.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you must be committed to undertaking and successfully completing a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical (4-year course). You should be eager to apply your skills and knowledge each day on an operating site.
Essential requirements include completion (or currently completing) year 11 with satisfactory results in both Math & English, along with a valid driver's license (learner's or provisional stage acceptable).
You are naturally motivated, mechanically minded, and have a strong commitment to safety. You are eager to learn and not afraid to ask questions or seek guidance when needed.
