Job Title: Electrical Engineer (Switchboard Designer)

Location: Brisbane, QLD

Full-Time / 5 Days on site

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team, focusing exclusively on switchboard design. This role involves producing accurate designs, schematics, and layouts for low voltage (LV) and/or medium voltage (MV) switchboards in line with client specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations. You will collaborate closely with project managers, production teams, and clients to ensure efficient and high-quality switchboard solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed switchboard designs, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, general arrangements, and panel layouts.
  • Ensure designs comply with AS/NZS 61439 and other relevant standards.
  • Work closely with project managers to interpret client requirements and translate them into design solutions.
  • Specify and select appropriate switchgear, protection devices, and control components.
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure manufacturability and accuracy of designs.
  • Provide technical support during manufacturing, assembly, and testing stages.
  • Conduct design reviews and assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and maintain all required design documentation and drawings.
  • Support site teams and clients with design-related queries.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in switchboard design or related electrical engineering roles.
  • Strong knowledge of low voltage distribution systems, switchgear, and control systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar).
  • Ability to read and produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
  • Solid understanding of electrical standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with internal teams and clients.
