Role Purpose
Reporting to the Group HSEQ Manager, you will be the NSW point of leadership for Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ). You will:
- Lead from the front — conduct audits, , inspections and reviews across NSW projects.
- Own and manage incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and lessons-learned programs.
- Oversee injury management and return-to-work processes in line with NSW workers' compensation requirements.
- Maintain and improve SWMS, SOPs, policies, and compliance documentation aligned with NSW WHS laws, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards and client expectations.
- Represent Avada in safety / HSEQ forums, attend safety committees and support client onboarding & renewals.
- Plan and execute emergency drills, asset inspections, and contingency readiness.
- Propose and drive safety improvement initiatives, metrics, and continuous learning programs.
What You Bring
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety.
- Current White Card and NSW-valid Traffic Control Licence.
- Current Australian driver's licence.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in health, safety and/or environment roles — ideally within traffic, civil construction or allied sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of NSW WHS legislation, industry Codes of Practice, Australian Standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills (you'll interact with field crews, management, regulators, clients).
- Self-starter with strong organisational skills, able to balance strategic and operational demands.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and foster a safety culture (mentoring, training, influencing).
