The Position

Reporting to the Director Manufacture & Lab Operations, you will work closely with the Senior Lab & Facilities Coordinator and all members of our research and analytical teams. Note that this is a permanent part-time (0.8 FTE) position.

Key responsibilities include:

• Organising maintenance of laboratory and selected analytical equipment
• Assist chemists in liaising with instrument suppliers to ensure the smooth running of instrumentation and minimise equipment downtime, as needed
• Managing laboratory waste disposal
• Receiving lab deliveries, unpacking and storing in accordance with OH&S requirements
• Ensuring stocks of solvents and high-use consumables are maintained
• Maintaining key safety equipment (eg, first aid cabinets, defibrillator, spill kits and testing of eye wash stations and breathing apparatus)
• Participating in first aid and fire warden responsibilities and organising first aid training for relevant employees
• Performing Secretary role for the OHS Committee
• Coordinating and overseeing monthly lab clean ups
• Maintaining awareness of and contributing to lab employees' compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation
• Contributing to risk identification, analysis and management.
