The Position
Reporting to the Director Manufacture & Lab Operations, you will work closely with the Senior Lab & Facilities Coordinator and all members of our research and analytical teams. Note that this is a permanent part-time (0.8 FTE) position.
Key responsibilities include:
- Organising maintenance of laboratory and selected analytical equipment
- Assist chemists in liaising with instrument suppliers to ensure the smooth running of instrumentation and minimise equipment downtime, as needed
- Managing laboratory waste disposal
- Receiving lab deliveries, unpacking and storing in accordance with OH&S requirements
- Ensuring stocks of solvents and high-use consumables are maintained
- Maintaining key safety equipment (eg, first aid cabinets, defibrillator, spill kits and testing of eye wash stations and breathing apparatus)
- Participating in first aid and fire warden responsibilities and organising first aid training for relevant employees
- Performing Secretary role for the OHS Committee
- Coordinating and overseeing monthly lab clean ups
- Maintaining awareness of and contributing to lab employees' compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation
- Contributing to risk identification, analysis and management.
