About the Role

Swinburne University is seeking a dynamic Senior Manager, Student and Academic Success to lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality co-curricular and extra-curricular learning support programs. Reporting to the Deputy Director, Student Engagement, this role focuses on enhancing student outcomes through university-wide service provisions, targeted initiatives for specific cohorts, and intensive outreach for high-needs and at-risk students.

The Senior Manager will oversee three specialist service teams: Learning and Academic Skills, Student Success Coaches (Higher Education), and PASS (Peer Assisted Study Support) Programs. Each team is led by a dedicated service team leader, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and staff support. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence and fostering a collaborative, student-focused environment.

As a member of the Student Engagement leadership group, the Senior Manager will provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders, contribute to policy and planning, and champion initiatives that improve student retention and success. The role also involves advising on complex student matters and producing impact reports. About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:


• Develop, implement, and report on effective and efficient processes and systems to identify students in need of support, assess their needs, and provide tailored approaches to enhance student retention and success.


• Where required, design and implement an integrated case management approach to support students with diverse and complex needs.


• Develop and manage strategic partnerships with university colleagues, third-party providers, and community organisations to scale and enhance service delivery.


• Adopt inclusive communication strategies that engage and leverage the diverse knowledge and talents of team members.


• Lead and manage team activities and resources to support the implementation and evaluation of high-quality, effective student success programs.


• Manage and balance workflows and workloads across different services and the annual operational cycle.

Qualifications


• Postgraduate qualification and extensive relevant experience; or extensive management experience and expertise in a relevant area; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
