Our client is seeking a Senior Mechanical/Piping Engineer for a 12-month contract based in Perth, WA. This role will focus on sustaining capital projects with Rio Tinto, including work on Oyu Tolgoi, Tom Price studies, Mesa A studies, and Brockman surrounds. The position requires a balance of piping and mechanical expertise, with design experience across stackers, crushers, conveyors, chutes, wet and dry plants, and hydraulic systems. Reporting to the Engineering Manager and Project Manager, the successful candidate will contribute to detailed design, technical scopes, and continuous input into studies and proposals, ensuring high-quality project outcomes aligned with Rio Tinto standards.

• Lead mechanical and piping design activities across sustaining capital projects for Rio Tinto.
• Work on a portfolio of projects including Oyu Tolgoi, Tom Price studies, Mesa A studies, and Brockman surrounds.
• Deliver design packages covering stackers, crushers, conveyors, chutes, wet and dry plants, and hydraulic systems.
• Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents in line with Rio Tinto standards.
• Provide continuous input into proposals, feasibility studies, and project scopes of work.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and multi-discipline teams to ensure project deliverables are achieved.
• Ensure safety, quality, and compliance standards are met across all design and engineering activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with senior stakeholders to foster a collaborative work environment.

• Holds a degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years' post-graduate experience in mechanical and piping engineering.
• Proven track record in design and project delivery within mining or resources projects, with strong exposure to sustaining capital projects and EPCM environments.
• Demonstrated experience across stackers, crushers, conveyors, chutes, wet/dry plants, and hydraulic systems.
• Familiarity with Rio Tinto standards, systems, and processes, ensuring compliance and quality in all engineering activities.
• Ability to lead mechanical and piping design activities across sustaining capital projects, particularly for Rio Tinto.
• Experience working on a portfolio of projects including Oyu Tolgoi, Tom Price studies, Mesa A studies, and Brockman surrounds.
• Proficient in preparing and reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents in line with industry standards.
• Strong design capability with the ability to support early-stage studies and proposals, adding value to project scopes.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of collaborating with Project Managers, Engineers, and multi-discipline teams.
• Strong problem-solving ability and initiative to add value at all project stages, ensuring safety and compliance standards are met.
• Team player with the ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate with senior stakeholders, fostering a collaborative work environment.
