About Us

The Fig Tree at Middle River is a seasonal restaurant overlooking Snelling Beach on Kangaroo Island. We showcase the island's incredible produce, relaxed coastal lifestyle, and a proud history of hospitality. We are seeking a hands-on, passionate Restaurant Manager to join our close-knit team and help deliver an exceptional dining experience for both locals and visitors. We offer a bookings only set-menu experience with lunches across wed-sun and one dinner each wednesday. Employment from 10 November 2025 through until 12 April 2025 with closure 25-26 Dec. Work directly with the owner who is also the head chef, and a small tight knit group.

Role Overview

The Restaurant Manager will oversee daily front-of-house operations, lead and support the service team, and ensure smooth coordination between kitchen and floor. This is a practical, guest-focused role requiring strong leadership, organisational skills, and a genuine love for hospitality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the restaurant, including service, staff rosters, and reservations.
  • Lead, train, and motivate front-of-house staff to deliver professional, warm, and efficient service.
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and stock control.
  • Work closely with the chef/owner to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain high standards of presentation, cleanliness, and compliance with health & safety requirements.
  • Act as a key point of contact for guests, handling queries and feedback with professionalism.
About You
  • Previous experience as a Restaurant Manager or senior FOH role (hospitality/event experience essential).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team.
  • Organised, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
  • Passion for food, wine, and exceptional customer experiences.
  • A current RSA certificate (Responsible Service of Alcohol).
  • Own vehicle and drivers license.
