Greater Melbourne Area, Australia Avive Health Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

Senior Intake Coordinator – Mental Health

Location: Brisbane or Mornington Peninsula (Mt Eliza) preferred

Flexibility: Sydney or hybrid considered for the right applicant

At Avive Health, we believe that accessing care should feel like the start of recovery – not another barrier. Our Senior Intake Coordinator leads the journey, ensuring every inquiry, referral and admission is handled with care, precision and a genuine commitment to nurturing patients, families and referrers.

Why this role matters

You'll be the first touchpoint for many – patients, families and referrers alike. Your role is to support, listen and guide – providing reassurance to people at vulnerable points in their journey and making it easier for busy referrers to connect patients with the right care. By leading our intake team, you'll create clear pathways into our inpatient, day program and Cloud Clinic telehealth services, while building strong relationships with GPs, psychiatrists and allied health partners.

What you'll do

  • Lead and mentor the intake team to provide warm, clinically sound support across referrals, admissions and waitlist management
  • Conduct and oversee mental health assessments, ensuring patients are safely and appropriately matched to care
  • Build nurturing partnerships with patients, families, and carers – guiding them through complex funding, consent and admission steps
  • Act as a key liaison for GPs, VMOs, and referrers – ensuring timely, transparent communication and professional partnerships
  • Shape and refine intake systems, data quality and digital workflows (CRM and electronic medical records)
  • Ensure compliance with AHPRA, privacy and governance standards while embedding a culture of care, equity and continuous improvement

What you bring

  • Current registration and qualifications as a mental health clinician (psychiatry, psychology, nursing, social work, or occupational therapy)
  • Experience in intake, triage or admissions within a hospital or mental health setting
  • Commitment to AHPRA standards, codes of ethics and patient-centred practice
  • Leadership capability – able to coach, mentor and build a high-functioning team across multiple locations
  • Warm, professional communication that balances clinical oversight with empathy and strong leadership
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage referrals, admissions and reporting efficiently
  • A belief that every patient, and referrer deserves clear, timely and respectful support

Supporting roles you'll work with

  • Intake coordinators
  • Nurse unit managers
  • VMO psychiatrists and hospital-based medical offiers
  • Day programs/allied health
  • Private practice
  • Partnerships managers and growth team
