What you will love about the role:

As the Underwriting Team Leader, you will work closely with the Underwriting Operations Manager to develop and support a high-performing team of underwriting specialists. Your leadership will be instrumental in achieving growth and ensuring execution of NTI's underwriting strategies. You'll provide coaching, oversee workloads, and implement strategies to improve performance while maintaining the highest service standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Motor Fleet, MPE & Marine Underwriters.
  • Monitor and manage workloads to ensure service standards are met.
  • Implement and drive strategies to enhance team performance and efficiency.
  • Contribute to quality reviews and implementation of Audit  actions to support risk assessment, pricing, and underwriting decisions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external intermediaries.
  • Ensure compliance with underwriting strategies, risk controls, and industry regulations.
  • Conduct performance reviews and create development plans for team members.
  • Collaborate with our Product Managers on technical skills development for the team. You don't need to be an expert in these products.
What we'll love about you:

You will have 3-5 years of underwriting experience in general insurance and a strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and industry regulations. You will be an excellent communicator with strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills. You will have experience leading a team or managing workflow processes, and a passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing individuals to achieve their full potential. You will hold relevant industry qualifications (ANZIIF or be willing to commence within 12 months) and ideally have tertiary qualifications in business or a related field. You will be adaptable, resilient, and thrive in a collaborative and high-performing environment.
