At 7,732 hectares and running an annual average of 85,000 DSE, Konetta Station is a highly productive mixed-enterprise property located in the Southeast of South Australia. The enterprise currently comprises:

  • 15,000 Merino ewes joined for fine wool production
  • 7,500 ewes joined to White Suffolk and Poll Dorset rams for prime lamb production
  • 12,000 Merino wethers
  • 3,000 crossbred trade lambs
  • 500 Angus cows, with opportunistic cattle trading as seasonal conditions allow.

This is a unique and rare opportunity to manage one of the "jewels in the crown" of the McBride portfolio - a property renowned for its scale, diversity, and contribution to the company's fine wool and livestock operations. The property also enjoys the advantage of extensive flood and centre pivot irrigation systems, enhancing productivity and reliability.

We are seeking an experienced and progressive Farm Manager to lead Konetta's day-to-day operations and drive excellence across all aspects of production, people, and sustainability.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role will suit a motivated, hands-on leader who is passionate about livestock production and continuous improvement. You will oversee a skilled team of around eight employees, ensuring a safe, positive, and high-performing workplace culture.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all livestock and pasture management programs
  • Manage property budgets, capital projects, and resources effectively
  • Monitor livestock performance and pasture utilisation to optimise productivity
  • Lead, develop, and mentor staff to support a strong team culture
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and WHS standards
  • Embrace innovation and technology to enhance operational efficiency

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience managing a large-scale livestock enterprise, and be currently working in a similar leadership role
  • Proven ability in farm planning, budgeting, and operational delivery
  • Sound understanding of pasture management and feed budgeting
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, safety, and sustainability
