Centre Director – Little Grots Farm Kindy

Little Grots Farm Kindy is a new, family owned, nature-based long daycare and farm kindy opening within the beautiful grounds of 11 Acre Farm — a working regenerative hobby farm that celebrates connection to nature, sustainability, and community.

We believe children learn best through curiosity, exploration, and time outdoors — feeding animals, tending gardens, and playing freely in nature. Our philosophy blends the principles of the National Quality Framework (NQF) with a deep respect for the environment and a focus on real-world, hands-on learning.

We're now seeking a Centre Director with strong business acumen, proven leadership experience, a deep commitment to compliance and quality and a passion for sustainability and early learning in nature — someone ready to take on the exciting challenge of building and leading a start-up early learning service from the ground up.

Candidates must hold a minimum of Diploma in Early Childhood Education and have a minimum of 3–5 years' experience in a Director position. Experience in opening a centre from scratch will be favourably looked upon. Current ACECQA Director approval from ECRU, a valid WA Working with Children Check, a WA Police Check, and current First Aid certification are essential. The successful candidate must be available to commence within three months.

Key Responsibilities

Start-Up Leadership

● Oversee all stages of service establishment — including licensing, policy development, recruitment, and resourcing.

● Develop and implement operational systems, educational programs, and procedures to ensure full compliance and readiness for opening.

● Build and lead a strong team culture from the beginning — recruiting passionate educators who align with our nature-based philosophy.

Compliance & Quality

● Ensure adherence to the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, NQF, and NQS from day one.

● Maintain comprehensive risk management, safety, and quality assurance processes.

● Lead continuous improvement and prepare the centre for assessment and rating.

Business & Operations

● Manage budgets, enrolments, and staffing with a strong commercial mindset.

● Drive occupancy growth and implement systems that ensure financial sustainability.

● Collaborate with owners to deliver strategic goals, marketing initiatives, and reporting.

Educational Leadership

● Support educators to create rich, play-based, nature-connected learning experiences.

● Ensure curriculum planning reflects sustainability, environmental awareness, and community engagement.

● Embed practices that celebrate the natural environment and foster respect for Country.

Community & Family Engagement

● Build strong partnerships with families and the local community.

● Represent Little Grots Farm Kindy at events and initiatives across 11 Acre Farm.

● Create a welcoming environment where families feel valued, heard, and supported.

About You

You're a visionary and practical leader — equally comfortable in gumboots and in spreadsheets. You thrive in dynamic environments and have the initiative, organisation, and resilience to create something from the ground up.

You'll bring:

● Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (or ACECQA-approved equivalent).

● Minimum 5 years' experience in a Director or senior leadership role in Early Childhood Education and Care.

● Demonstrated ability to establish or grow an early learning service.

● Excellent knowledge of the NQF, NQS, National Law and Regulations, and compliance frameworks.

● Strong business and financial management skills, including rostering, budgeting, and occupancy strategy.

● Proven ability to recruit, develop, and lead high-performing teams.

● Warm, authentic communication and the ability to build strong relationships with families and community.

● Passion for nature play, sustainability, and holistic early childhood education.

● Current WWCC, First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma certifications.
