Sydney, New South Wales, Australia NSW Government Full time $60,000 - $120,000 per year
Position Information

Canley Heights Public School is a vibrant, community-focused school located in south-west Sydney in the Fairfield local government area. The school has approximately 550 students including mainstream, special education and preschool enrolments. The four special education classes cater for students with moderate intellectual disabilities and/or autism and are included as an integral part of our whole school community. These classes are fully embedded within the school's curriculum and culture, ensuring that students in support classes have access to the same opportunities for learning, social interaction, and participation as their peers.

The school community is culturally and linguistically diverse with just over 96% of our students coming from language backgrounds other than English. The predominant community languages are Vietnamese, Khmer, Arabic, Samoan and Chinese. Several students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (3.4%). Our students are supported by EAL/D and Community Language programs as well as targeted literacy and numeracy initiatives. The school has an ongoing commitment to the development and delivery of quality teaching and learning programs with an emphasis on all students being literate, numerate and curious. This is achieved through strong, strategic professional learning for all staff that promotes the consistent delivery of high quality, differentiated and engaging learning opportunities that cater for each student's individual needs, passions, talents and potential.

Strong positive relationships are formed between the school and the community with regular opportunities made available for parents, the school and external agencies to work together for the needs of families. This includes forming early relationships through a school facilitated play group and offering learning and social opportunities for parents on site.
