Position Information

Cecil Hills Public School caters to 725 students, including 73% from a non-English speaking background. The school has a positive reputation for its knowledgeable and nuturing staff, strong academic, cultural and sporting achievment and strong partnership with a diverse local community. The support unit is also known for the outstanding programs, quality teaching and our caring staff who collaborate closely to work with each individual student whilst also working closely with parents and carers. The four classes cater to students who have an autism diagnosis and have diverse communication, social, behavioural and academic needs. Teachers are well supported by a visible leadership team.

Selection Criteria

  1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Autism (K-6).

  2. Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum using evidence-based research and to develop and implement plans and specific learning goals that maximise student engagement and achievment.

  3. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively, proactively and professionally with staff, parents and other stakeholders.

  4. Demonstrated skills and experience using a range of inclusive classroom management and wellbeing approaches to cater for the communication, behavioural, sensory, social and emotional needs of students.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
