We Need CHEFS

Based in a beautiful tourist hot spot we are looking for experienced Chefs to join our team. The ideal candidate would be driven by high standards and genuinely passionate about food. We currently have a number of chef positions and we want to hear from you.

Our venue caters for breakfast, lunch, dinner with services of up to 400pax per service.

Ideally, you will have a few years experience in a similar position or be looking to work your way up the kitchen food chain

About us:

  • We are located over looking the beach at Beautiful Burleigh Heads.
  • We offer superb dining options in the restaurant and large-scale events in our function options.
  • Full commercial kitchen and a great working environment with top support staff. These are full-time permanent positions (usual hours min 38hrs per week) rostered to cover breakfast, lunch and dinner service. We are open 365 days a year - weekends and public holiday work will be required.

The Role:

Working under the direction of the Head Chef, you will prepare and cook a variety of dishes to meet the needs of our guests from an a la carte menu, banquettes and events.

  • Preparation, portioning, plating of meals, including garnishing and sauces.
  • Accommodate customers specific dietary requirements and requests e.g., allergen-awareness, vegetarian, gluten-free options.
  • Manage raw ingredients, preparing menu items including marinating and seasoning.
  • Accommodate customers specific dietary requirements and requests e.g., allergen-awareness, vegetarian, gluten-free options.
  • Monitoring the temperatures of grills, ovens and fridges to ensure highest quality of food freshness.
  • Estimate food requirements, portion control and wastage control.
  • Participate in stocktaking.
  • Assist Head and Sous Chef with menu planning and training of junior staff and apprentices.

About You:

  • Communicate with all team members, guest or internal customer comments and other relevant information
  • Establish and maintain effective employee working relationships.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled briefings and other meetings as scheduled
  • Clean and re-set working area
  • Implement the kitchen and department regulations, policies and procedures
  • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned
  • Actively pursue cost-saving measures by minimizing wastage and recycling where possible.

Skills & Experience

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Sound knowledge of current food trends
  • A high standard of professional grooming
  • Excellent presentation and exceptional communication skills
  • The ability to demonstrate Burleigh Surf Club Hospitality values
  • Qualified cook – Cert IV in commercial cookery
  • Knowledge and use of a variety of commercial kitchen equipment e.g., grills, slicers, sous vide
  • Skills in preparing traditional Aussie dishes, and international
  • Able to work efficiently as a team member
