
Lead Service Designer – Federal Government ICT Reform

Location: Flexible – ACT, NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, NT (Hybrid, 3+ days onsite per week)
Rate: Competitive hourly rate with full Pryan transparency
Duration: 12-month contract + 2 x 12-month extensions
Pryan is seeking a highly experienced Lead Service Designer to support a major federal government reform program. In this EL1-equivalent role, you will lead service design activities within a multi-disciplinary agile team, ensuring digital services meet the needs of users, business, and government.
Operating under broad direction, you will create service blueprints, drive human-centred design, and represent the voice of the user while collaborating with Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, and Change staff.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the design of end-to-end services using human-centred design methods.
- Develop artefacts including service blueprints, personas, prototypes, and data visualisations.
- Plan and conduct user research activities including interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
- Work with stakeholders to co-design future state services balancing desirability, feasibility, and viability.
- Promote design thinking across teams to foster innovation and uplift capability.
Essential skills & experience
- Proven ability in business situation analysis and stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated success in user research and user experience design.
- Strong capability in data visualisation and presentation of insights.
- Skilled in applying and promoting design thinking practices.
Desirable
- Certifications in business process improvement.
- Experience in measurement frameworks, organisational facilitation, and adoption of methods/tools.
Security & eligibility
- Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain a Baseline security clearance.
