About us
The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
The Life Event Data Lead is accountable for fostering and maintaining key stakeholder relationships, and for ensuring that necessary operational guidance is in place, to enable DGS to effectively and efficiently share information and data necessary to fulfill Births Deaths and Marriages Registry functions.
The role leads work to ensure strategic partnerships with external organisations and agencies increase access to and effective use of BDM data. This includes representing the department in internal and external fora as well as directly fostering strong relationships with critical stakeholders.
The role provides expert advice on the ways in which individual datasets can be transformed into powerful strategic intelligence, harnessing the social and business value of BDM's data, while ensuring compliance with regulations, standards and codes of practice relating to information and documentation, records management, information assurance and release, and data protection. The role is responsible for the development of structures, frameworks and processes to ensure the capture, storage, security, preservation, disposal, accessibility, reporting and quality of organisational data.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Leadership: Communicates vision, sets clear strategic direction.
- Strategic planning: Contributes to organisation strategic planning, developing and implementing business plans consistent with operational framework, and developing new areas of practice and innovative strategies while focusing on the achievement of long-term goals.
- Stakeholder Management: Identifies and manages a range of complex and often competing needs; facilitates innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues.
- Organisational Awareness: Uses acute understanding of the organisational environment to build collaborative partnerships across the portfolio, anticipate and effectively address emerging departmental issues, develop innovative programs and initiatives, and advise and negotiate with senior management in order to achieve long term strategic organisational goals.
- Policy Skills: Develops complex strategic and policy frameworks and plans, developing new initiatives and advising senior stakeholders based on an expert knowledge of the sector and field.
