About the Role
The Regulatory and Compliance Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the organisation operates within its legal and regulatory obligations across multiple jurisdictions. This is an exciting opportunity to influence and support a variety of risk and corporate governance activities throughout a growing and dynamic organisation. Reporting to the General Counsel, the role is also a key interface between the legal function and the business for contract governance, security and privacy compliance, supports company secretarial and governance activities, and also oversees risk management initiatives across the group more broadly.
This role is part time and we're looking at FTE.
Role Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor and report on applicable laws, regulations, codes, and standards as required, and provide advice to the business on such matters (with legal support as required).
- Maintain compliance registers and calendars, and ensure timely reporting to regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
- Lead regulatory engagement and manage interactions with government, industry bodies, and regulators.
- Coordinate across cross-functional aspects of the business to record risks and manage, implement and oversee risk management programs.
- Prepare regulatory submissions, responses, and ensure licensing, permit, and reporting obligations are met.
- Manage the company's insurance portfolio, including renewals, policy adequacy reviews, and coordination of claims processes with support from the legal team.
Cybersecurity, ISO and SOCI compliance
- Oversee compliance with key critical infrastructure and cybersecurity obligations, including the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act, Telecommunications Act, and industry-specific frameworks.
- Act as secretary for SUBCO's Risk Management Commitee, preparing agendas and taking minutes, and assisting the business implement its
Critical Infrastructure Risk Management Plan - Collaborate with IT and Security teams to ensure the business meets internal and external information security requirements.
- Support ongoing maintenance of ISO 27001 and other regulatory frameworks, and manage audits or assessments as needed.
- Work in tandem with P&C to develop and deliver training and awareness programs to promote compliance culture across the business as required, including in relation to anti-bribery and sanctions compliance.
Company Secretary Support
- Support the General Counsel with Company Secretary activities or act in this role where delegated.
- Coordinate board and committee meetings if required, including preparation of agendas, minutes, and resolutions.
- Maintain governance policies and charters, and manage director onboarding and disclosures.
- Ensure compliance with Corporations Act and internal governance frameworks.
Internal Controls & Risk
- Identify, assess, and monitor regulatory and compliance risks across business operations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to remediate non-compliance or improve controls.
- Maintain incident registers and oversee breach reporting and remediation processes.
- Drive continuous improvement in compliance systems, automation and controls.
- Support investigations into non-compliance or policy breaches.
About You
- Minimum 5+ years experience in compliance, legal, regulatory affairs, or governance roles.
- Experience in telecommunications, technology, or infrastructure sectors compliance or regulation preferred. Direct experience with critical telecommunications infrastructure is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with corporate governance and security compliance frameworks.
- Demonstrates integrity and transparency and takes responsibility for initiating and leading compliance actions, decisions and conversations
- Experience working with regulators or leading regulatory submissions desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously.
- A record of achievement in similar roles with a detailed knowledge and understanding of business compliance and risk.
