Fixed Term – 2 to 3 years
V/Line is Victoria's regional public transport operator, delivering passenger and freight services and contributing to major rail infrastructure projects across the state.
We are recruiting 4 experienced Project Managers to support major works across the regional rail network.
These roles will contribute to high-impact programs including the Sunshine Superhub and Inland Rail, helping deliver structural and civil engineering improvements that matter.
These are fixed-term roles ranging from 2 to 3 years, depending on project needs. Final role allocation will be based on merit and alignment with project requirements. We encourage all applicants to focus on demonstrating their capability and experience.
About the Role
As a Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of structural and civil engineering projects across the full lifecycle, from initiation and design through to construction, commissioning and handover.
You will manage resources, schedules, budgets and risks, while ensuring safety, quality and stakeholder alignment at every stage.
You'll be responsible for:
- Scoping works and identifying all associated costs, including target cost estimates
- Leading project development, design, tendering, construction, and delivery into service
- Applying V/Line's approved project management methodology
- Preparing and executing project plans (e.g. quality, cost control, OH&S, environmental, commissioning, change management)
- Coordinating all required internal and external approvals, including statutory permits
- Securing V/Line safety, maintenance and operational accreditation sign-offs
- Identifying early works packages to accelerate delivery where possible
- Supporting V/Line's role in state-led initiatives or internal projects delivered by other divisions or external agents
- Coaching and mentoring team members to build capability and support continuous improvement
About You
To support a fair and merit-based process, we ask that you address the following key selection criteria. During the application, you will be prompted to answer questions about each, and we also encourage you to reflect these capabilities in your resume.
You are a capable and confident project professional with the following essential requirements:
- A qualification in Structural or Civil Engineering
- 5+ years' experience delivering major infrastructure projects, ideally in rail or heavy industry
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with government agencies
- AIPM accreditation (or willingness to obtain within 12 months)
- A collaborative mindset and proven ability to lead, coach and mentor others
- A focus on safety, quality and operational readiness
Important Considerations
This role is a Risk Category 3 position and will require successful completion of safety assessments and a medical check.
