Finance Manager

Built Environment Collective Pty Ltd (BEC) is a leading Australian multi-disciplined engineering design and project management consultancy. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Finance Manager to support the strategic growth of our operations in Australia and internationally.

To succeed in this role, you should be proactive, enjoy turning financial data into actionable insights, bring structure and control where needed, and drive improvement initiatives both independently and collaboratively. The role has an operational focus, and as a member of a small studio you should expect to handle various tasks small and large.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
– Responsible for the financial reporting, including project revenue recognition, P&L, forecasting, as well as other statutory and non-financial reporting
– Responsible for accounting, including coordination with the external accountant and bookkeeper
– Responsible for invoicing, accruals, AP/AR etc.
– Responsible for the year end audit and point of contact to auditors
– Responsible for budgeting process in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer & Chief Operations Officer
– Monitor the company's project portfolio and act as project controller
– Provide financial input to key proposals and negotiation processes with clients
– Act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Team and Project Leaders
Qualifications and Experience
– Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting
– 4–8 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial reporting, business or project controlling, or similar roles.
– Strong proficiency in Excel
– Experience in Xero accounting software
– Experience with project-based operations is an advantage

– Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate clearly with non-finance stakeholders
– Excellent problem-solving skills, quick learner and an analytical approach
– Active approach with a strong desire to improve processes
– Good collaboration skills and active positive contribution to work environment
– Good understanding of numbers – accurate and structured
– Able to cope with periods of high tempo and busy days
