The Opportunity

We're searching for a strategic and commercially driven Head of Growth to define and deliver the NBL's growth strategy across all revenue-generating channels.

Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, this is a senior leadership role with accountability for commercial sales performance, revenue expansion, and the monetisation of league assets. You'll set strategy, drive execution, and build scalable growth capability that shapes the league's commercial future.

What You'll Do

Growth Strategy & Commercial Leadership

  • Act as a critical conduit between Executive and Sales teams to ensure alignment, clarity, and delivery of outcomes
  • Define revenue priorities, growth initiatives, and annual sales plans aligned to league objectives
  • Aid in setting revenue targets, growth KPIs, and accountability frameworks
  • Identify new markets, categories, and commercial models to drive long-term growth

Commercial Sales & New Business Development

  • Lead senior-level new business development and high-value commercial sales opportunities
  • Oversee and influence the sales pipeline across all major revenue streams
  • Personally lead negotiations on complex or high-value deals
  • Ensure disciplined sales execution and performance against revenue targets
  • Use data, insights, and market intelligence to continuously refine sales strategy
  • Oversee and be responsible for the administrative process that supports and underpins the sales pipeline

Commercial Asset Monetisation

  • Maximise the commercial value of NBL assets including sponsorship inventory, digital platforms, content, broadcast integrations, and events
  • Develop commercially compelling sales packages that align with client objectives and market demand
  • Work with internal teams to ensure sold assets are deliverable, scalable, and commercially optimised

Sales Strategy, Forecasting & Performance

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the NBL's commercial sales strategy
  • Build accurate revenue forecasts and sales plans
  • Track, report, and analyse sales performance against targets and KPIs
  • Identify opportunities to improve sales processes, tools, and commercial effectiveness

Cross-Functional Growth Enablement

  • Ensure sales initiatives are fan-centric and enhance the overall NBL experience
  • Support clubs by identifying and executing league-wide and club-aligned sales opportunities
  • Work closely with Partnership team to ensure seamless transition and integration of new partners into the organisation

Executive & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial clients and prospects
  • Act as a trusted commercial contact throughout the sales lifecycle
  • Represent the NBL professionally in sales meetings, presentations, and industry engagements
  • Work with senior stakeholders to align sales priorities with league strategy

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Senior leadership experience in commercial growth, sales, or revenue strategy (sports, media, or entertainment highly regarded)
  • Proven track record of delivering significant revenue growth and leading high-performance sales functions
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience owning forecasts and revenue accountability
  • Demonstrated success negotiating complex, high-value commercial agreements
  • Experience influencing executive stakeholders and operating at a strategic leadership level
  • Ability to develop compelling proposals and business cases
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing, Commerce, or related field
