About the Role
Canberra Grammar School is seeking a dedicated and inspiring Assistant Head of Girls' Boarding to join our vibrant boarding community.
This is an exciting opportunity to bring your warmth, energy and leadership to one of Australia's leading independent schools. Working closely with the Head of Girls' Boarding, you will play a key role in nurturing a positive, caring and connected residential community where students feel at home, supported and empowered to thrive.
As a full-time, resident member of the CGS Team, you will live on campus and help lead the daily life of the boarding house — from pastoral care and academic progress to co-curricular involvement, staff leadership, weekend activities and parent engagement. You'll be a trusted presence for our students, a mentor for your team, and an ambassador for CGS Boarding.
This role includes a part-time teaching load, allowing you to contribute to both the academic and residential life of the School.
About You
You are a caring, committed and experienced professional who brings both heart and structure to your work. You will have:
- Proven experience working with young people in a residential or boarding setting
- A genuine passion for supporting students' wellbeing and personal growth
- Strong leadership and communication skills with students, staff and parents
- High emotional intelligence, empathy and discretion when handling sensitive matters
- The ability to foster a nurturing "home away from home" environment
- Excellent organisation, problem-solving and attention to detail
- A collaborative approach and the confidence to lead with warmth and professionalism
Essential Requirements:
- Full working rights within Australia
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Current Driver's Licence
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new systems (e.g. REACH, Synergetic, CGS Connect)
- Appropriate teaching qualifications, Working with Vulnerable People Card, National Police Check, and full Australian working rights
Desirable:
- Australian Boarding Schools Association (ABSA) Certificate in Residential Care (or willingness to complete this at CGS)
