Job title: Head of Risk
Position Type: Full Time, Permanent
Location: Canberra/Sydney - hybrid
As Head of Risk, you will support the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer (CRCO) in leading the delivery, oversight, and continuous improvement of CSC's Risk Management Framework. You will lead a team of risk professionals and work closely with business units to embed effective risk practices that align with CSC's risk appetite and strategic goals.
Partnering with the CRCO and executive leaders, you will align risk management practice with compliance and legal obligations to strengthen CSC's resilience and governance. The role requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to look beyond the obvious and influence across all levels of the organisation.
Key responsibilities
Enterprise Risk Management
Lead the operational implementation and ongoing development of CSC's Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite StatementMaintain and execute CSC's Fraud and Corruption Control Plan, including that incidents are effectively monitored, reported, and addressedAggregate and analyse risk data to identify trends, emerging risks, and opportunities to strengthen controls and risk practicesIn partnership and collaboration with key LRG and business stakeholders, develop and embed scenario analysis, control validation, and monitoring activities to support risk mitigation across the businessRisk Oversight and Business Integration
Provide second-line advice and challenge to CSC business units, monitoring risk exposures and mitigation effectivenessBuild and sustain strong partnerships with Business leaders and risk champions to foster first-line risk ownership and a relationship of openness and transparency with Line 2Lead reviews of business processes to identify control gaps and recommend practical improvements to mitigate risk in line with CSC's risk appetiteStay abreast of regulatory, industry, and market developments to ensure risk frameworks remain fit for purpose.People Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing risk team, providing clear direction and accountabilityEngage proactively with internal stakeholders, including Internal Audit, Compliance, Legal, Governance and external assurance providers, to promote an integrated risk approachInfluence senior leaders and peers by providing insightful risk advice and fostering a positive risk cultureRisk Culture and Communication
Design and deliver risk awareness and communication programs, including dashboards, newsletters, workshops, and trainingChampion a culture of transparency and proactive risk management aligned with CSC's valuesContribute risk insights to strategic planning and major business initiatives and transformation programsGovernance and Reporting
Prepare comprehensive and timely risk reports and insights for the Executive Risk Management Committee and Board Risk CommitteeSupport the CRCO in regulatory reporting and risk reviewsMonitor adherence to risk appetite and escalate material risks and issues as appropriate.Fraud and Scam Risk Management
Maintain a detailed database of fraud and scam incidents and outcomesLiaise with external bodies, including Services Australia, on identity and fraud risk mattersSupport enterprise-wide efforts to mitigate consumer loss from scams and fraudulent activity.Specific duties, deliverables and reporting lines may vary from time to time dependent on business needs and priorities. Key objectives and measurements will be captured in the Performance & Development planning cycle, established annually and adapted as needed.
Skills And Experiences
What we're looking for
At least 15 years' experience in risk management, compliance or assurance in a regulated environment, preferably superannuation or in financial servicesStrong understanding of enterprise risk management frameworks, fraud control, and regulatory expectationsDemonstrated experience leading high-performing teams and influencing senior stakeholdersProven ability to interpret complex risk issues, apply a practical and commercial perspective to solutions and drive continuous improvementClear, confident communicator with strong writing and presentation skillsAnalytical and inquisitive, with strong problem-solving capabilityCollaborative and pragmatic in working with others to achieve shared goalsProfessional integrity and a high level of accountabilityCommitted to promoting an inclusive and ethical workplace cultureAt least five years working with Board/Board Subcommittees and Executive stakeholders in the achievement of both strategic and tactical and risk management outcomesTertiary qualifications in risk management, law, business, finance or a related fieldPostgraduate qualifications directly relevant to risk, governance, and/or financial services.Why join CSC?
