About Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation (MCHRI), School of Public Health, Monash University and Monash Health
MCHRI sits under the Facility of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. Established in 2005, MCHRI has grown from 3 to 180 staff and students. This is a partnership centre across Monash University and Monash Health and provides an implementation laboratory for research and translation embedded and integrated into healthcare. MCHRI works with broader reach across Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre, nationally and internationally in our research and translation endeavours. Our vision is to create, synthesise, implement and translate clinical, health care and public health knowledge, underpinned by cross sector end user engagement, to deliver health impact. MCHRI has led organisational and individual leadership support programs in healthcare for nearly a decade.
About the Role
We seek to fill a vital position to support qualitative research across multiple projects. This position has an primary role in qualitative project planning, conduct, and analysis. Accordingly, this role requires an experienced and strategic thinker, with a background in qualitative methods and analysis, relationship-building, interpersonal skills as well as demonstrated ability to manage complex and multi-faceted initiatives/projects.
Working with a project team, the Research Officer will provide a vital and supportive role across the spectrum of conceptualization through project closure and translation. This may include ethics coordination, project management, stakeholder engagement and health system implementation. Data collection using qualitative methods and qualitative data analysis are integral to this role, requiring an experienced, efficient and effective researcher to achieve this. The context of most research programs in MCHRI is women's health but work on projects in different areas may also be required.
The Research Officer key result areas:
Project Coordination and Delivery
Develop and implement efficient processes that support research leads in project coordination and delivery of key research outputs
Manage and coordinate operational aspects of research programs including stakeholder communication, participant management, and data collection, collation and management
Attend relevant meetings, providing updates on project progress and outcomes
Assist with data collection and analysis, and preparation of results and reports
Preparation of documentation for research papers, including conducting literature reviews and data analysis
Providing high level administrative support, maintaining data and record-keeping systems, ethics reporting, reference libraries, and websites.
Research and Translation
Conduct research aligned with the research program objectives across knowledge to action
Produce and/or contribute to peer-reviewed publications, and project reports based on study findings
Manage ethics amendments and submissions in line with project requirements
Assistance in qualitative research methods, including interviews and focus groups with stakeholders/consumers.
Contribute to the ongoing evaluation of the research program.
About You:
Experience in qualitative research methods and analysis.
University qualification in health, women's health, public health or a related field.
Experience in project management and coordination.
Demonstrated ability in academic writing and manuscript production.
Demonstrated experience working in a research or professional environment to optimise the health outcomes of participants and/or patients.
Experience and excellent understanding of the principles, complexities and issues around research.
Project management experience and understanding of the complexity of large-scale projects.
Demonstrated ability to manage diverse stakeholder relationships effectively.
