What is the role?

We have a short-term maternity leave cover from October to December (Full time or Part time). This is a unique opportunity to join our leading human-centred design firm as a UX researcher and designer on a contract. You will work with a small team of experienced designers and researchers to provide consulting services to some of Australia's biggest organisations. This role could be part-time or full-time, depending on your needs and our needs.

This role is varied, interesting and challenging projects across a variety of industries utilising a range of research methodologies and design solutions.

This is a genuinely family-friendly and flexible workplace. Management practices what we preach. Your workday will be split between working from home, our office in South Melbourne and on-site with our clients.

On any given day you'll be tasked with….

  • Planning, executing and assisting with UX research projects including interviews, in-person moderated and remote usability testing, co-design workshops, design sprints and surveys.
  • Undertaking contextual/ethnographical studies, card sorting, Tree Testing, diary studies, and participatory design.
  • Taking research notes and then partaking in analysis and synthesis of research including affinity mapping.
  • Understanding user needs and tasks to define effective product experiences and providing recommendations for improving the user experience.
  • Executing design work consistent with design and brand standards, research insights and user feedback including sketching, concept creation, wireframing, production of sitemaps and user flows, creation of clickable prototypes and UI design.
  • Report writing, which includes research findings within Nomat templates including executive summaries, methodology, metrics, user issues identified, recommendations for improvement, and creation of a roadmap for next steps.
  • Creation of other deliverables such as personas, journey maps, service blueprints and other artifacts.
  • Presenting findings to senior stakeholders.

We need someone who has…

  • The ability to undertake research and design
  • A sound knowledge and understanding of digital technology (including websites, applications, including mobile apps).
  • The ability to view customer experiences holistically.
  • Experience with the human-centred design methodology.
  • Competency using tools such as Figma, Miro, and Microsoft Suite.
