Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Alvarez & Marsal Full time

Description
Senior Executive Assistant
We are seeking a Senior Executive Assistant to support senior Managing Directors in our Advisory practice (Management Consulting), specifically the Private Equity team. This role would typically cover 2 'high-touch' and 1 'low-touch' MD on a 40:40:20 basis.

This is a high-impact role for an experienced professional who thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial consulting environment and enjoys operating as a trusted business partner rather than a traditional assistant.

You will play a pivotal role in enabling our leaders to focus on client delivery and business growth—balancing executive support, practice management, and project coordination responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
Executive Assistant

  • Serve as an extension of Managing Directors by anticipating needs, actively managing competing priorities, and providing seamless execution support.
  • Proactively manage complex calendars, travel, and expense management.
  • Exercise judgment and discretion in handling sensitive communications, confidential client matters, and internal initiatives.

Practice Management & Operations – Private Equity Team

  • Partner closely with Practice leaders in the Private Equity Team and Business operations teams (e.g. HR, L&D, Talent Acquisition) to support practice-level rhythms: business development meetings, recruitment pipeline and onboarding coordination, training calendars, and team events.
  • Lead coordination of private equity and portfolio company client relationship management activities (e.g. maintaining priority account lists, updating client contact databases)
  • Support pipeline visibility and reporting by collaborating with MDs, Business Development Manager, and Finance to ensure project data is accurate and up to date in Salesforce
  • Manage logistics for internal and client-facing Private Equity events (roundtables, offsites, dinners) including coordinating vendors, venues, and communications.

Client & Project Enablement

  • Provide active support to client project teams as required (e.g. managing central stakeholder correspondence, coordinating executive-level workshops)
  • Support with development of project-specific policies and procedures (e.g. travel and expense policies for high-travel engagements)

Leadership Support & Culture

  • Act as a trusted cultural anchor within the team—fostering collaboration, mentoring more junior EAs, and role-modelling A&M's winning code (Bold, Agile, All-In, Team-Player, Resilient)
  • Anticipate leadership needs during critical phases (client deadlines, travel-heavy periods, proposal submissions), stepping up to ensure priorities are balanced.
  • Support internal communications and recognition initiatives, helping to maintain high team morale and connectivity across the practice and broader business.

What You Would Bring

  • Minimum 10 years' experience supporting senior executives, ideally within professional services (specifically consulting).
  • Proven ability to operate with high autonomy, manage ambiguity, and make sound decisions with limited guidance.
  • Exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to juggle multiple time zones, projects, and stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen—comfortable engaging in discussions around clients, deals, and commercial outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail and presentation.
  • Proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office, CRM tools (Salesforce), and virtual collaboration platforms (Teams, Zoom).
  • Warm, confident, and composed under pressure—a natural relationship builder who embodies discretion and professionalism.

Inclusive Diversity

A&M's entrepreneurial culture celebrates independent thinkers and doers who can positively impact our clients and shape our industry. The collaborative environment and engaging work—guided by A&M's core values of Integrity, Quality, Objectivity, Fun, Personal Reward, and Inclusive Diversity—are the main reasons our people love working at A&M. Inclusive Diversity means we embrace diversity, and we foster inclusiveness, encouraging everyone to bring their whole self to work each day. It runs through how we recruit, develop employees, conduct business, support clients, and partner with vendors. It is the A&M way.

Equal Opportunity Employer

It is Alvarez & Marsal's practice to provide and promote equal opportunity in employment, compensation, and other terms and conditions of employment without discrimination because of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, sex or gender, gender identity or gender expression (including transgender status), sexual orientation, marital status, military service and veteran status, physical or mental disability, family medical history, genetic information or other protected medical condition, political affiliation, or any other characteristic protected by and in accordance with applicable laws. Employees and Applicants can find A&M policy statements and additional information by region here.

Unsolicited Resumes from Third-Party Recruiters

Please note that as per A&M policy, we do not accept unsolicited resumes from third-party recruiters unless such recruiters are engaged to provide candidates for a specified opening. Any employment agency, person or entity that submits an unsolicited resume does so with the understanding that A&M will have the right to hire that applicant at its discretion without any fee owed to the submitting employment agency, person or entity.
