Alice Springs Hospital has an exciting position for an Orthopaedic Specialist interested in surgery that specialises in the care of Aboriginal people in a remote environment.  Alice Springs is located 1,500km from the next surgical facility and serves a radius of 750km.  The medicine is complex with 50% of the work being emergency admissions.  Little of the work is routine or predictable.  Around 70% of the patients are Aboriginal with an interesting mixture of trauma and elective orthopaedic surgery.  Bone infection, hand injury, paediatric orthopaedics and neglected trauma, along with elective surgery including arthroplasty and arthroscopy, offers a diverse range of opportunities for a general orthopaedic surgeon.

We are looking for an enthusiastic consultant and provide leadership to the unit, through the Department of Surgery - Orthopaedics, to Alice Springs Hospital, Alice Springs and Barkly regions and fringe areas of Western Australia and South Australia. Have at least 2 years post fellowship experience.  You will have an interest in developing and improving services through education and a safety and quality approach.
