About the Speech Pathology Department

The Speech Pathology department is committed to promoting the highest levels of care for our patients. In realising this goal, the department will lead and excel in research, teaching and the use of person-centred evidence-based practice. The department provides services on all three campuses of Austin Health, from 
the Emergency Department through to bed-based services and ongoing ambulatory care.

About the role 

As the Grade 1 Speech Pathologist you will deliver clinical care to a range of patients within the Austin Health network. You will be supported by a team of professionals who are passionate about providing best practice care for patients. You'll enjoy our continuing education and quality improvement strategy, which is developed through leadership forums and committees.

A regular day will see you:   

  • Assess and treat patients, liaising as appropriate with family members and caregivers to promote patient care
  • Facilitate a coordinated approach to patient care by working with other team members where required
  • Participate in continuing education activities
  • Collaborate with multiple teams across the division

About you 

You will be someone who has excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You'll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:

  • Eligibility for certified practising Speech Pathology Australia membership 
  • The ability to provide treatment for a wide variety of clinical conditions
  • The desire to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
