The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Manager, Enterprise Risk to join our Risk Team, within the newly formed Integrity Unit. You will be responsible for providing expert guidance and strategic advice to strengthen enterprise-wide risk management practices and enable informed decision-making.

You'll lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of CSIRO's risk management framework, ensuring alignment with best practice and regulatory requirements. Working closely with Research Units, functional areas, and senior leadership, you will facilitate the identification, assessment, and management of risks.

Your high-level duties will include:

  • Providing expert advice on contemporary and emerging risk management frameworks, to inform the ongoing enhancement of CSIRO's Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
  • Leading the development of CSIRO's organisational risk profile including formal risk workshops and reporting to the Executive Team and Board.
  • Supporting Research Units and functional areas in the application of the risk management framework and integration of risk into critical business processes and decision-making.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal stakeholders to promote a risk-aware culture and ensure the integrity of risk management practices.
  • Leading the development and review of risk assessment processes, controls, and documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Role particulars

Location: Any AUS CSIRO location – Flexible/hybrid working arrangements available

Salary: AU$135k – AU$158k per annum (pro rata for part-time), plus 15.4% super

Tenure: Indefinite, Full-time

As the successful candidate, you will bring:

  • Relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience in risk management or related field e.g. business administration, compliance, or a similar discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in enterprise risk management, including the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of risk management frameworks and processes.
  • Proven ability to provide expert advice on contemporary and emerging risk management practices, and to support integration of risk into business processes and decision making.
  • Demonstrated people leadership with ability to empower and develop professional talent and to foster inclusivity and high-performance in multidisciplinary groups.
  • Ability to work autonomously and provide strategic advice to management, with a high level of independence in decision-making and action.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to convey information and ideas clearly and succinctly to individuals and groups.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
