About the Role
This is an Ongoing full-time position in Sunshine (Inner West Vic), the role will be supporting the efficient delivery of routine roadside maintenance services across the Melbourne metropolitan area under the VRMC contracts. The position contributes to operational performance by assisting with the planning, coordination and monitoring of maintenance activities while supporting continuous improvement and value-for-money outcomes. The Roadside Officer will also work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to address emerging issues, maintain compliance and ensure that programmed roadside works such as mowing, furniture spraying and noxious weed control are completed to the required standards.

Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, an ideal candidate will demonstrate and maintain strong stakeholder relationships by responding promptly, communicating respectfully and managing difficult conversations with professionalism while upholding organisational values and ethical standards. Additionally, knowledge on critical thinking to interpret guidelines, resolve issues and escalate complex matters appropriately and support effective project delivery through organised planning, coordination and timely follow-up. Success in this role, as a Roadside Officer you must demonstrate sound commercial awareness by considering costs, resources and value-for-money principles to ensure responsible and efficient outcomes.

Position accountabilities
- Assist in the delivery of routine roadside maintenance programs by supporting planning, scheduling, and coordination activities to ensure works are completed in a timely and efficient manner
- Contribute to the preparation and review of work programs and documentation in accordance with established policies, procedures, and quality standards
- Support the monitoring of contractor performance, including the collection of data and site observations to ensure compliance with contractual, safety, and environmental requirements
- Liaise with internal colleagues and external stakeholders (e.g., contractors, local councils) to assist in resolving issues and maintaining effective working relationships
- Participate in the identification and reporting of operational issues or opportunities for improvement, supporting initiatives that enhance service delivery and safety outcomes
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
Experience relevant to the capabilities of the role.
Desireable
Tertiary qualification in a relevant or related discipline.

Non-VPS applicants will be subject to a probation period of six months.
