About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic, empathetic, and reflective senior leader to join our College Leadership Team as the Assistant Principal Students. This role is pivotal in the strategic and operational leadership of student wellbeing and engagement initiatives and programmes. The Assistant Principal Students will promote a student-centred, empowering, and respectful school culture, and develop and facilitate personal development, respectful relationships, student leadership, and other formation programmes.
Responsibilities:
Faith and Transformation Leadership
- Integrate the Charter for Catholic Schools in the Edmund Rice Tradition and its Touchstones into the life of the School.
- Promote practices that reflect the dignity of every person regardless of background, behaviour or presentation.
Student Wellbeing and Engagement
- Exhibit leadership and best practice in preventative and reactive safeguarding (child protection) as imperative to all aspects of this position and within every component of the College.
- Develop and implement a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework for student wellbeing in conjunction with other members of the College Leadership Team.
- Support, lead and collaborate with the Directors of Student Wellbeing, House Deans and wellbeing team to ensure the effective and efficient running of the House system.
Student Leadership and Formation
- Design, implement and conduct regular leadership programs and workshops that foster the personal growth and development of Student Leaders.
- Lead Student Voice initiatives, exploring best practices and contemporary versions of a Student Council setting objectives and monitoring progress using data to continuously improve leadership development.
Staff Development
- Lead the development and professional growth of the Wellbeing Team
- Develop and lead the professional development staff program as it pertains to student wellbeing.
- Lead the staff use of the College's Learning Management System for wellbeing/engagement notifications.
Operational and Event Management Responsibilities
- Support the Deputy Principal and Leader of Expressive Arts in contributing to School Assemblies.
- Oversee the scheduling and organisation of student camps.
- Be responsible for Orientation programs and Graduation Events.
- Assist the Assistant Principal Identity and Global Advocacy in planning for the College's involvement in Local, State and National cultural and faith events including Harmony Week, NAIDOC week, National Reconciliation Week, Refugee Week and the College Feast Day.
- Represent the School and contribute to marketing and enrolment activities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Be prepared to undertake, or be working towards, appropriate qualifications at a post-graduate level in a relevant field.
- Queensland College of Teachers' Registration (or eligibility for registration).
- Demonstrated experience in a Senior Wellbeing or similar level leadership role in a school.
- Understand, and respond to, current pedagogy and curriculum trends as influenced by AITSL, QCAA, ACARA, the College's Strategic Plan and Edmund Rice Education Australia College's improvement agenda.
- Experience in managing complex student issues, including conflict resolution and restorative practice, alongside the Deputy Principal and Principal.
- Demonstrated inter-cultural competence and experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of leading inclusion in a school environment.
