As we continue to grow – and with the upcoming retirement of our long-serving Accountant – we are seeking a skilled and hands-on Company Accountant to join our team. This role is pivotal in leading the finance function and supporting strategic decision-making while contributing to our future growth and ongoing success.
The Role
The Reporting to the Directors, the Company Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, compliance, and reporting. This is a pivotal role that combines technical accounting expertise with a commercial mindset to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Full function company accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations
- Lead and Manage the Accounting Team to ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and variance analysis
- Job costing and project financial tracking for developments and builds
- BAS, PAYG, Superannuation, and other statutory compliance requirements
- Liaising with external auditors, tax agents, and financial institutions
- Developing and improving financial systems, processes, and reporting structures
- Providing commercial insights to support business growth and decision-making
- Assisting Directors with feasibility studies and financial modelling for projects
About You
We are looking for an Accountant who is technically strong, commercially astute, and forward-thinking. You'll thrive on accuracy and detail, while also contributing valuable insights to support the company's broader growth and strategy.
Key requirements:
- CA/CPA Qualified
- Minimum 10 years' experience in an accounting role (property or construction industry highly regarded)
- Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, tax, and compliance
- Excellent Excel and accounting software skills
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data into actionable insights
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – able to work with both site and office teams
- Proactive, adaptable, and motivated to contribute to a growing business
