The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Division at Townsville University Hospital leads strategic initiatives to improve health equity for First Nations peoples. This role supports the Palm Island Health Action Plan 2018–2028, a community-led framework for delivering culturally safe, responsive healthcare services to Palm Island.

About your opportunityAs the Palm Island Health Action Plan Project Officer, you will lead the implementation of a transformative health strategy for Palm Island.
This role involves high-level stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and performance monitoring to deliver culturally appropriate, community-controlled health services.
Based in Townsville, with travel to Palm Island, you will work closely with First Nations communities and health organisations to drive measurable outcomes and system reform.
Requirements- Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health equity reform and cultural issues.
- High-level project management, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in service design, governance, and performance reporting within complex health systems.
- Exceptional communication and leadership capabilities, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Ability to apply data-driven frameworks and influence cross-sector collaboration.
- Professional or tertiary qualifications in business, policy, or project management are desirable.
