ABOUT THE ROLE
Join Carriageworks for a 6-month role supporting a major capital works project at one of Australia's leading contemporary arts venues.
We're seeking a proactive and organised professional to support the Facilities Manager in maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant venue during this significant capital works period. This role is ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their career, build new skills, and gain hands-on experience in facilities and project operations within a fast-paced arts environment.
You'll have the chance to work across a variety of core services and projects, acting as a key link between venue operations, contractors, and internal teams. It's a unique opportunity to broaden your operational knowledge while contributing directly to the delivery of a major infrastructure project – an excellent springboard for future roles in facilities, operations, or venue management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervise core services including cleaning, waste, security, and landscaping.
- Prioritise and track maintenance tasks, ensuring timely issue resolution.
- Support event-related schedules, checklists, and building service delivery.
- Liaise with internal departments and external contractors to meet operational needs.
- Conduct venue inspections and oversee post-event condition reporting.
- Procure supplies and equipment to support ongoing operations.
- Contribute to WHS practices, audits, incident reporting, and compliance checks.
- Oversee service providers, ensuring high standards and contract compliance.
- Promote sustainable practices in energy use and environmental management.
- Coordinate small-scale and internal projects such as office relocations and minor works.
- Actively engage in weekly precinct operations meetings across departments.
ABOUT YOU
- Experience in facilities or venue operations, ideally in arts or cultural spaces.
- Knowledge of building systems (e.g. HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
- Familiarity with WHS, compliance, and emergency procedures.
- Competence in Microsoft Office and facilities software.
