The Patricia Giles Centre for Non-Violence (PGCNV) is one of the primary providers of family and domestic violence services in the Northern Corridor, which includes Three Safe Accommodation sites.
Our reputation is driven by our commitment to providing a high-quality, client-focused and sustainable service to clients accessing our suite of programs and services.
In addition to the provision of accommodation services, PGCNV ensures timely and effective provision of advocacy, referral information and support to women and their children seeking relief from the impact of domestic violence.
ROLE
We have an exciting new position based in our Refuge sites in the Northern Corridor for a Family and Domestic Violence Refuge Support Worker.
Working as part of a dynamic fast paced team our Support Workers assist with the implementation of client centered practices. This Support Worker role will have the primary responsibility of assisting with the delivery of practical day to day supports for the women, children and young people within our service.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver daily support to all clients in refuge (including shift check-ins with clients & recording interaction on SHIP)
- Complete all necessary housekeeping duties, including cleaning and laundry to enable vacant units and beds to be ready and clean for new intakes
- Transport clients to appointments when needed
- Manage time effectively and prioritise tasks
- Ensure client files, SHIP notes, safety plans and records are maintained and up to date
- Communicate with the Site Lead regarding any issues that will need to be followed up
- Submit timesheets, travel records, expenses and complete other administration tasks in line with organisational policy and procedures.
- Work toward the required standards as stated in the relevant services contract
- Develop positive relationships with clients and staff to contribute to the effective functioning of the service and improved outcomes
- Respond to referrals from internal and external support services with clients who are high risk or at imminent risk of serious harm
- Conduct phone assessments to determine suitability for support using the tools provided
- Complete intake, exit and feedback documentation with clients
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
This position is casual and requires availability for weekend work.
ESSENTIAL
- Completion of or progress towards a relevant qualification (certificate II/III), and/or relevant work experience
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a sensitive and respectful manner
- Ability to build relationships based on trust and respect for every person
- Competency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook
- National Police Clearance – no older than 3 months
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current WA Driver's licence
- Current First Aid & CPR certificate (can be completed upon appointment)
- Full Working Rights in Australia
DESIRABLE
- An understanding and/or experience in the FDV sector
- An understanding around Mental Health & AOD
- Previous experience in SHIP or other case management software
