Position InformationGarah Public School is a small rural school in North Western NSW, located 50 km north–west of Moree in the Barwon Network. Our school caters for 16 amazing students of the town and local farming community. We promote a family atmosphere where all students interact and learn from each other in a supportive and caring environment.
Our school takes pride in offering a safe, enjoyable, engaging and challenging learning environment for students from Kindergarten to Year 6, underpinned by our core values of 'Respect, Responsibility and Personal Best'. We foster a culture of high expectations and quality curriculum delivery for all students, with programs focusing on personalised learning within a multiage classroom environment. Student learning is supported by high levels of access to technology and integrated kitchen/garden and STEM programs.
Garah Public School is supported by a strong and active P&C committee, and enjoys positive, productive partnerships and commitment from the whole school community. Students are given opportunities to participate in significant extra-curricular opportunities, often in partnership with Boomi Public School and Mungindi Central School, with students enjoying strong social networks through inter-school events and sporting opportunities..
Current staffing includes: Teaching Principal, Temporary Full-Time Classroom teacher, Part-time School Administration Manager (SAM), Part-time General Assistant, a Full-time Student Learning Support Officer (SLSO), and a Virtual Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction (VAPCI). All teaching and non-teaching staff work collaboratively to support all key stakeholders.
Selection CriteriaIn addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.
Within the dual role of the teaching principal and high-performing classroom teacher, demonstrate a proven ability to lead the implementation of curriculum and assessment practices to improve outcomes for all students.
Demonstrated strength in leading targeted professional learning and evidence-based practices to implement quality HPGE, differentiated learning and explicit teaching to ensure equity for all students and staff professional learning.
An open, approachable and collaborative leader with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, who empowers staff and builds positive, authentic relationships with all members of a diverse rural school community.
High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Teaching Principal Level TP1 for 2025.
