Position InformationIllawong Public School is located 27 kilometres southwest of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the Sutherland Shire. Illawong is an Aboriginal word meaning between two waters, referring to the Georges and Woronora Rivers between which the peninsula sits. Illawong Public School is situated on a large site with extensive bushland, boasting large play areas and a school oval. Current student enrolment is 195, including 3% Aboriginal students and 43% students with English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD). The Family Occupation and Education Index (FOEI) is 54.
The teachers at Illawong Public School are committed to providing students with a contemporary education that is strongly aligned to evidence-informed practices. We have a focus on literacy and numeracy and developing students' skills in communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity through an inquiry focus and real-world connections.

Proven capacity to provide outstanding pedagogy curriculum leadership in a K-6 environment and as an Instructional Leader, lead effective and innovative teaching practice with an increase in student outcomes and engagement
Demonstrated outstanding capacity to inspire and model highly effective educational practices and continuous improvement, and foster innovative, future focused teaching and learning, including diverse curriculum opportunities and pathways for all students
Demonstrated capacity to proactively engage with the entire school community in authentic ways that are culturally sensitive and innovative with a strong commitment to maintaining valuable partnerships with parents and the wider community
Proven ability to be an open, approachable and visible leader with demonstrated experience in developing and delivering effective and proactive staff and student wellbeing practices to enhance a cohesive school culture.
High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P1 for 2025 and Principal Level P1 for 2026.
