Position InformationPooncarie Public School is a TP1 school, located on the banks of the Darling River in the Far West of NSW 120 km North of Mildura (Vic) and 250 km south of Broken Hill. The school is part of the Far West Network. Pooncarie is a low socio- economic rural school and has a current enrolment of 8 students.
The school motto of 'Advancing Together' underpins all we do at Pooncarie Public School.
The school staff include a teaching principal, a part-time classroom teacher, a part-time assistant principal curriculum and instruction and a part-time school administration manager. The school is focussed on achieving its key focus of continuous improvement in teaching, learning and wellbeing. The school is well resourced to support quality learning in all KLA areas.
Strong community relationships are an important aspect of the school with a high level of community consultation and involvement.
Selection CriteriaIn addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.
Demonstrated capacity to balance the complex teaching, administrative and leadership roles of a teaching principal, including inclusive individualised education programs focussed on improving student outcomes across multi-stage class settings
Highly visible leader with strong interpersonal skills who builds a shared vision and inspires school improvement through fostering a culture of high expectations, cohesion, collaboration, and accountability
- Demonstrated experience as an instructional leader who inspires staff to build a culture of expertise in classroom practice with a clear focus on explicit teaching, literacy and numeracy
- An understanding of the needs of students in a rural and isolated community and a strong ability to collaborate and consult with all community groups
High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Teaching Principal Level TP1 for 2025.
