Pooncarie Public School is a TP1 school, located on the banks of the Darling River in the Far West of NSW 120 km North of Mildura (Vic) and 250 km south of Broken Hill. The school is part of the Far West Network. Pooncarie is a low socio- economic rural school and has a current enrolment of 8 students.

The school motto of 'Advancing Together' underpins all we do at Pooncarie Public School.

The school staff include a teaching principal, a part-time classroom teacher, a part-time assistant principal curriculum and instruction and a part-time school administration manager. The school is focussed on achieving its key focus of continuous improvement in teaching, learning and wellbeing. The school is well resourced to support quality learning in all KLA areas.

Strong community relationships are an important aspect of the school with a high level of community consultation and involvement.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Teaching Principal Level TP1 for 2025.
