The Role
Defence Finance Group (DFG) leads financial operations, management and performance across Defence, delivering financial support to projects and capability, management and business partnering services. Your role is to undertake financial analysis in support of finance business partnering for Defence's Specialist Groups, which sits within the Financial Performance and Management (FP&M) Division in DFG.
As an APS 6 Financial Advisor in the FP&M Division, you will:
- Combine your professional expertise with your commitment to support shared purpose and directions.
- Have a strong ability to analyse and interpret financial information such as budgets and management reporting.
- Respond positively to changes and enjoy working with others to understand complex issues.
- Assist DFG's clients by undertaking a range of financial analysis tasks and activities.
About our Team
The role of DFG is to provide the full range of financial advice, services and systems to the Defence Portfolio. DFG consists of two Divisions, FP&M Division and Budgets and Financial Services (B&FS) Division.
FP&M Division provides client facing finance partners across the country working closely with Defence Groups and Services to deliver management accounting, advice and support.
B&FS Division delivers the full range of central financial functions including Commonwealth and internal budgeting, statutory financial requirements, financial systems, operations and policies.
With a growing team of over 700 people spread across Australia, with significant offices in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney, DFG is the largest finance function in the Commonwealth. Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate would have established a career in accounting/finance in the private or public sectors that will give you a range of transferable skills to Defence. You have strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement capabilities, and you can effectively explain financial information to a broad range of stakeholders to support strategic directions set by the senior leadership.
To be successful in these roles you will possess and be able to maintain a positive "can-do" attitude along with the ability to demonstrate accuracy and a high level of attention to detail. You will be well organised and have a willingness to learn, take initiative, have an excellent work ethic and strong financial data analysis skills.
You will have a proven ability to exercise sound judgment and apply financial policy, supported by demonstrated business and commercial acumen. You will have adapted your knowledge across a broad range of situations developing a robust approach to influencing people and situations to achieve results.
