Our client, a respected government agency, is seeking a skilled professional to become part of their dynamic team located in Parramatta, New South Wales (hybrid work scenario). This is a 9 month role fixed-term role.

Role Overview

The Test Lead will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of testing activities for Drupal-based web applications. This role requires strong leadership, expertise in quality assurance methodologies, and practical experience testing CMS platforms—particularly Drupal. The Test Lead ensures that all deliverables meet functional, performance, and security standards prior to release.


Key Responsibilities

Test Leadership & Strategy

  • Define overall test strategy, plans, and timelines for Drupal projects.
  • Manage test teams (onshore/offshore) and coordinate resources across sprints.
  • Ensure QA processes align with Agile or DevOps delivery frameworks.

Test Planning & Execution

  • Create detailed test plans, including functional, regression, integration, UAT, and performance testing.
  • Oversee test case design, execution, and defect tracking using tools such as Jiraand Zephyr.
  • Ensure comprehensive coverage of Drupal-specific components—modules, themes, views, content workflows, and integrations. This includes front end and back end testing.

Collaboration & Governance

  • Work closely with developers, business analysts, product owners, and DevOps teams to ensure early defect detection and fast resolution.
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and release reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards (e.g., OWASP) and accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG 2.2).

Automation & Tools

Oversee test automation review to ensure the automated testing yields the same or better results than manual testing

Reporting & Quality Assurance

  • Provide clear QA metrics and dashboards for project stakeholders.
  • Ensure traceability of requirements to test cases and defects.
  • Sign off on test completion reports and validate readiness for production releases.

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

  • 5+ years in software testing, including 2+ years as a Test Lead.
  • Drupal CMS knowledge—understanding core concepts, contributed/custom modules, and theming.
  • Strong knowledge of test design techniques, defect management, and test reporting.
  • Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).

Desirable

  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools
  • Web Accessibility testing to WCAG standards
  • Experience in performance and load testing (e.g., JMeter, Locust).

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills to work with both technical and business teams.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical mindset with a focus on quality and user experience.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
